    Arrhythmia in pregnant women - what to do?

    During the bearing of a child, a woman needs to be more attentive and responsible about her health and well-being. Any violation in the body of a pregnant woman negatively affects the development of the baby. Arrhythmia causes difficulties with bearing, as it often ends in spontaneous abortion. While carrying a baby, a woman's body is subjected to a strong load. The cardiovascular system suffers the most. That is why arrhythmia during pregnancy is diagnosed quite often.

    Reasons for the development of the disease

    Any form of the disease negatively affects not only the health and general well-being of the pregnant woman, but also provokes pathologies in the development of the fetus.

    The main factors that provoke the development of arrhythmia in a pregnant woman are:

    • diseases of the cardiovascular system;
    • pathologies in the work of the endocrine system;
    • violations of metabolic processes in the body;
    • diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory system;
    • the impact of external factors (ecology, nutrition, emotional and physical stress, the presence of bad habits);
    • genetic predisposition.

    In approximately 20% of cases, cardiac arrhythmias in pregnant women are associated precisely with cardiovascular pathologies.

    If a woman has any discomfort in the heart area, it is urgent to notify the doctor about this.

    If timely measures are taken to maintain health, then the baby will be born strong and healthy.

    Forms of arrhythmia during pregnancy

    Women who are in position are diagnosed mainly with extrasystole. With her, discomfort is felt in the chest, tingling in the left side of the chest.

    Due to the weak manifestation of symptoms, women rarely go to the doctor, giving the disease an opportunity to progress.

    Therefore, during pregnancy, it is better to do unnecessary examinations than to lose sight of a dangerous pathology.

    In addition to extrasystole, the following types of arrhythmias are distinguished:

    1. Sinus - is a serious violation of the heart rhythm. With sinus arrhythmia, the work of the heart spontaneously slows down or accelerates. A woman may notice darkening in the eyes, shortness of breath, sudden fainting.
    2. Atrial - is a danger to the fetus, as in some cases it contributes to the development of hypoxia in it. Atrial fibrillation in the early stages can provoke spontaneous abortion (miscarriage). Atrial fibrillation occurs due to the progression of heart pathologies or without good reason.

    Regardless of the form of arrhythmia, a pregnant woman with any heart rhythm disturbances should be under medical supervision.

    Symptoms of arrhythmia

    Since during pregnancy women become more sensitive to stimuli not only external, but also internal, the body will clearly indicate the presence of problems with the heart rhythm:

    • with arrhythmias, women are disturbed by a knock in the temporal region, dizziness, and the pulse quickens;
    • in a calm state, as well as during physical activity, the pregnant woman has shortness of breath, palpitations (while the heartbeat is clearly felt in the left half of the chest).

    Arrhythmia provokes disturbances in the process of blood supply to all organs and tissues with the necessary amount of oxygen and nutrients. As a result, the unformed fetus suffers first. With advanced cardiovascular diseases in pregnant women, a child can be diagnosed with a developmental delay, hypoxia and other dangerous pathologies, especially in the development of the heart.

    How to deal with an arrhythmia

    Arrhythmia during pregnancy requires responsibility and care not only from the doctor, but also directly from the expectant mother. Due to the increased work of the liver and kidneys, medicinal substances are quickly excreted from the body, not having enough time to influence the functioning of the heart muscle.

    At the same time, protein deficiency can also reduce the body's susceptibility to medications. In most cases, the doctor often changes drugs and prescribes them in an increased dosage so that the active substances perform their functions at the proper level.

    The main directions are:

    1. With atrial fibrillation in pregnant women, prevention is aimed at normalizing lifestyle and completely abandoning bad habits.
    2. It is also necessary to constantly monitor the contractile function of the myocardium and work on the prevention of thromboembolism. This heart disease is a consequence of undertreated atrial fibrillation.

    Doctors seek to eliminate arrhythmia without using medications, and give permission for natural childbirth.

    The main task is to prevent the development of ventricular tachycardia during pregnancy. That is why therapy for any heart rhythm disorder should be carried out as soon as the first symptoms appear.
