Chokeberry: does the pressure increase or decrease?
Chokeberry is not only a garden decoration and a plant that requires little to no care, but also a great option if you need to lower the pressure.
It does not increase, but lowers pressure due to such an effect on blood vessels:
- Makes their walls stronger and more elastic.
- Expands, thereby lowering blood pressure.
- Leads to lower cholesterol levels.
- It has a diuretic effect, which also affects blood pressure.
Chokeberry is a source of vitamins and microelements necessary for the body. It is considered even more useful than apples and currants.
The use of mountain ash for hypertension
To get the maximum benefit from the plant, the berries must be harvested in late autumn, since it is during this period that it accumulates useful substances.
After collecting the fruits, they must be thoroughly washed, dried and placed in the freezer. Frozen storage will help preserve all the nutrients. You can also use dried berries. To do this, they need to be placed in the oven or spread out in the sun.
The plant lowers blood pressure if consumed as follows:
- There are fresh berries. This is the easiest way to get rid of hypertension. Ripe chokeberry fruits are recommended to take 100 grams, three times a day.
- Lowers blood pressure and freshly prepared rowan juice. It should be prepared as follows: wash the berries, dry them and pass them through a juicer. A day you need to drink a little more than half a glass of juice. To increase the benefits, you can add a teaspoon of honey to the drink. Juice can not be drunk all at once, but divided into three times and consumed before meals.
- With hypertension, this recipe is also effective. Boil the berries for half an hour at a temperature of 60 ° C. The medicine must be stirred all the time. Boiled fruits need to be crushed and filtered. Keep the mixture in the refrigerator for no more than a day. It should be consumed before breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- Dried berries are used to make an infusion. Three tablespoons of fruits must be placed in a thermos and pour boiled water. The medicine should stand for a day and only then it can be used before each meal.
- The syrup from these berries has blood pressure-lowering properties. To do this, a kilogram of berries must be washed and cleaned. Bring 800 ml of water to a boil and throw rowan fruits into it. Boil for a while and add a little citric acid. After a day, the mixture must be filtered, covered with sugar, put on fire, bring to a boil and boil for a couple more minutes. The finished product must be poured into jars and rolled up. To lower blood pressure, you need to use a few tablespoons of funds per day.
- Rowan makes excellent jam. It can be drunk with tea and thus get rid of hypertension. But the tea should not be hot. A hot drink, on the contrary, raises the pressure.
- Rowan goes well with honey. To do this, pour 500 grams of berries with a tablespoon of honey and eat for a month. The duration of the course depends on the condition of the patient.
People with low blood pressure should also not give up this useful product. A small amount of berries does not increase it, so hypotensive patients can safely use mountain ash to strengthen the body.
Contraindications
Berries should not be consumed if:
- Increased acidity of the stomach.
- Ulcer of the stomach or duodenum.
- Increased blood clotting.
- Predisposition to the formation of blood clots.
Even in the absence of these diseases, a doctor's consultation will not hurt. Only a specialist can fully verify the usefulness of berries for a particular case of hypertension.
Chokeberry is much more useful than drugs, as it is a natural product. It can be used not only to cure hypertension, but also for preventive purposes, and to strengthen the immune system. For this, of course, it is better to use fresh berries. But in winter, you can get by with ice cream, or jam, infusion or juice made from them.
Do not forget about safety. Therefore, in order to accurately determine how effectively chokeberry lowers blood pressure, it is better to consult a doctor.
