What to do if it became bad on the street

Very hot weather, a stuffy unventilated room, hustle and bustle in crowded public transport, serious physical exertion or sudden severe stress, even an overly heavy lunch or a drunk glass of alcohol can provoke an increase in blood pressure.

The patient may become ill in the most unexpected situation, therefore he himself, and his environment, and all people should know well what to do in this situation:

    • First of all, you need to take the patient to fresh air.
    • Seated in the shade as comfortable as possible.
    • Loosen or remove too tight clothing, belts.
    • Place a damp cloth on your forehead.

    • If the victim has his usual medicine with him in case of a sharp increase in blood pressure, give him a pill, but in no case exceed the standard dose! Too much of the drug can cause a rapid drop in blood pressure, which is unacceptable and can lead to very serious and dangerous consequences. With a sharp drop in pressure, the patient loses consciousness and may fall into a coma, so only an ambulance can save here.
    • In no case should you give the victim your own pills! We are all different and what works for one person can hurt another person.
    • With increased pressure, the phenomena of heart failure are often observed, therefore, first aid for high pressure includes drugs such as Corvalol, Valocordin or Validol, and some other heart remedies.
    • It is extremely important to calm and support the patient, as excitement and discomfort worsen his condition.
    • If a person becomes worse or all your actions do not bring a pronounced result, you need to urgently call an ambulance.
    • Wait for the doctors and describe to them the symptoms of the patient's condition.
If you do not know what to do or are simply afraid to provide assistance, contact your doctor immediately. Perhaps it is your promptness that will save a person's life.

What to do if the pressure has risen, but the numbers are not critical

In most cases, a chronically ill patient with high blood pressure for a long time knows exactly what to do and what medicines to take if his indicators rise above the usual norm. But the pressure can also rise in people in their normal state, who do not even think about such problems. Very often this leads to overwork, stressful situations, too much food. It is necessary to take measures, but very carefully so as not to “bring down” the indicators and not cause even bigger problems.

The first step is to measure blood pressure. This must be done in order to know what steps to take next. If the numbers are not too high, and the state of health does not worsen, you can try to take simple measures at home.

If the pressure has risen very high, the patient feels bad, and the indicators are growing, there is no question of any provision of home care and there is no other way out - you need to call an ambulance, and as soon as possible.

To alleviate the condition you need:

    1. seat the patient in bed, overlaying pillows so that he is in a reclining position,
    2. if the hands and feet are cold, and the person is trembling, it is necessary to wrap him up warmly,
    3. do hot foot baths,
    4. put a mustard plaster, pepper patch on the caviar or the back of the head, apply a heating pad, and in its absence, just a bottle of hot water.
    5. if the room is hot or stuffy, open the window - fresh cool air will ease the condition and bring you to your senses.

For pain in the heart, a strong heartbeat, drip Corvalol, give a tablet of Validol or another heart remedy.

A frightened or overly excited person needs to be calmed down, talk to him, explain what you are doing for him, with strong excitement, you can give valerian or tincture of motherwort, hawthorn, immortelle, cudweed and some other plants that have a mild blood pressure-lowering effect, and also sedative properties.

If all measures do not help, but the numbers do not increase, the patient is left at home, but a doctor is called for him.

After the symptoms disappear, it is necessary to undergo an examination and receive recommendations from a specialist on behavior in case of recurrence of such a condition and a list of necessary medications selected for a particular patient.

A sharp increase in blood pressure

Wherever a person is, a sharp rise in blood pressure threatens the development of a hypertensive crisis, and he, in turn, can provoke a stroke with many dangerous consequences, including paralysis and death.

To prevent this from happening, the pressure is immediately measured and, at high rates, an ambulance is immediately called. When calling, be sure to state the received numbers.

While the doctors are traveling, the patient needs to provide:

    • fresh air,
    • comfort,
    • calm.

Do not show signs of excitement and panic, speak quietly, try to calm the patient, give him the drugs that he takes regularly, make a cold compress on his head, simple medicines such as Validol will help with palpitations. Do not show initiative, your actions can be harmful.

Emergency physicians will take the necessary measures.

If hospitalization is offered, you should not refuse it - timely treatment can save you from many negative consequences of a hypertensive crisis.
